Whether you are shopping for a new computer, mp3 player, cell phone or TV, the choices available seem almost never ending. Every day press releases flood the internet with news of the most up-to-date feature, model and style of the latest “gotta have it’ gizmo.
Multitasking is the latest trend in personal electronic devices. It-s not enough to be able to take a phone call and send a text message with a cell phone. Now one can read a book waiting in the checkout line while listening to music when comparison-shopping with a barcode scanner app. Oh, and get a text message not to forget to buy milk.
Your business can now process charges on the go with your phone, as well as deposit checks with the snap of a digital picture. You can use a barcode scanner app to research prices on the internet and take a photo of it for future reference.
Smart phones seem to do it all, but in a miniaturized way. This led to the development of the tablet. Now these same tasks can be performed without eyestrain. A 10 or even seven-inch tablet, however, is a little large to use for a phone. There will always be some limitations. We can do video chatting with them, though.
You can watch your cable TVs programming on your tablet, read a newspaper or book or view a video. Students can study a foreign language on the go with audio programs and podcasts and youngsters can be entertained with kid friendly games and activities.
With all the capabilities the tablets have, it is hard to believe that they could do any more. However, developers are always looking to build a better mousetrap and they have just scratched the surface of that which these little powerhouses are capable.
